Karanbir Singh has announced the release of
CentOS5.1, a Linux distribution built by recompiling the source RPM packagesfor the recently released Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1: "Weare pleased to announce the immediate availability of CentOS-5.1 forthe i386 and x86_64 architectures. CentOS-5.1 is based on the upstreamrelease 5.1, and includes packages from all variants including Serverand Client. All upstream repositories have been combined into one, tomake it easier for end users to work with. And the option to furtherenable external repositories at install time is now available in theinstaller. This is the first release where we are also publishing aspecial 'netinstall' ISO image that can be used to start a remoteinstall." Read the
